The informality and apparently casual interaction between client and staff, is actually where great things begin to happen-the tangible benefits are a good enough reason for the drug user to accesses the service but to remain in the programme and to aspire for a change in one's circumstance, is the most important intangible benefit the client derives from his interaction with the staff, who are mostly ex drug users themselves . In plainspeak no one really bothers about street dwelling drug users (excepting Imphal this is the profile of 90% of the clients in the Five City Project) and so the non judgmental acceptance and even friendly gestures of the staff make a huge impact on the clients ,who also see for themselves that it is possible to be drug free and make a change in ones life. |
