The biggest killer of people who are HIV positive in India is Tuberculosis (TB). The drop-in center in Delhi has found that it is possible to retain people on TB medication for the complete 6-9 month duration of the course of medication. The short experience of treating TB within the context of the drop-in center has proven very successful as it addresses a crucial issue of HIV care and reduces the likelihood of the development of multi-drug resistant strains of TB in this vulnerable area.

The government DOTS programme has expressed interest in establishing a programme in the area. Discussions on this topic will continue, and if successful, the establishment of a DOTS programme in the area would be a good sustainable outcome of the programme.
